Site Layout
I add this page just to introduce that not every menu is the same, and not all navigation is good enough. I would be a stretch to say that I am any kind of expert on Site navigation and layout. Interestingly, there is basically a science for Layout and Design. In fact, there are companies with special computers that track the eye movements of people visiting websites. (check this out http://www.poynterextra.org/eyetrack2004/main.htm) Then based on the data collected determine the best layout for sites in a particular industries.
So, no, I am not a navigation and layout expert. What is important to recognize is that Navigation and Layout do play a part of the overall web experience. And yes, I am aware that this information exists, and now, so are you. What is important is to be able identify “stopping” points on a website. This is typically discovered during traffic analysis and then we seek to fix these issues. There are some “basics” to layout and design that will be important to your website. And again, this is just a small part to the bigger picture.
